The department’s aim lies in the development of the best traditions and achievements of the Lviv national academy of arts, as well as in the rebirth of the most characteristic features of fine arts, decorative and applied art and design of Crimea.
The Department of the Lviv National Academy of Arts in Sevastopol is a structural subdivision formed in 2003 according to the necessity of the autonomous republic of Crimea in high qualification specialists in the field of art and design. Such a decision was also caused by the availability of productive educational and creative bases (art ceramics of Balaklava Plant of building materials, art porcelain of Sevastopol industrial Complex, jewellery center of a private jeweller enterprise, garment factory named after N. Neonilova, fashion house «Modus», workshop at Sevastopol Art Museum, reserve «Khersones »).
The opening of the department was favourable to the development of professional decorative and applied art and design in this region as well as to the formation of artistic and cultural environment of Sevastopol with considerable historical and cultural traditions.
The department includes the following specializations: «Clothing Design», «Knitted goods design», «Interior Design», «Graphic Design».
The dean of the department is S. Tumakova who has been working in the higher educational institution for more than 32 years. She is the author of more than 80 scientific articles, one scientific monograph, a number of educational manuals with the stamp of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (1999, 2006). Her scientific-pedagogical counts more than 20 years of teaching in higher school of management at Sevastopol State Administration, in the Center of raising the professional level of state employees and heads of state enterprises.
The first graduation of Bachelors took place in 2005.
The teaching staff of the department is constantly improving the educational and methodical basis, making a considerable creative activity. The teaching staff consists of specialists of high qualification, artists and theoreticians, such as Y. Myskiv (a graduate of the Lviv National Academy of Arts), an outstanding graphic artist, a member of National Artists’ Union of Ukraine, Honoured Artist of autonomous republic of Crimea; V. Kovalenko, Honoured Artist of Ukraine; V. Protsenko, Honoured Artist of Ukraine; graduates of art academies of Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, leading specialists of the Moscow Institute of Textile Industry, of the Union of Designers, Blacksmiths and Photograph masters of the autonomous republic of Crimea.
Prominent specialists in history, philosophy, philology, economics and law ensure the teaching of social and economical subjects and of humanities.
