the museum is the place of propagation of art acquirement of our educational institution and acquaintance with it of both students and entrants, visitors and guests, who are interested in specificity of our academy and its history. the creative exhibitions of the lecturers of the Lviv national academy of arts also take place in the museum.
The history of the Museum of the Lviv National Acad¬emy of Arts begins with the first graduates of the Lviv National Institute of Applied and Decorative Art in 1953. Sofia Karaffa-Korbut’s work «Decorative plate Bohdan Khmelnytskyi» is dated back to this year and it is the most precious exhibit. The work of the graduate of the Chair of Ceramics (1954) Lidiya Shevchenko was rep¬resented by a liquor set and the graduate of the same chair Euhenya Mary made in 1955 a jubilee tea-coffee set «700 years of Lviv». These works are preserved in the museum's funds.

One more obvious confirmation of the historical date of museum's existence at that time can serve the entrance door made for the museum of the Lviv National Institute of Applied and Decorative Art by the graduate S. Od-nopozov in 1955. Now this oak carved door adorns the entrance to the museum.

In the museum exposition there are different materials and the best works of art of the last years. Different chair graduates' works are exposed in chronological order. The works of graduates have already become exhibits of the museum having the educational and me¬thodical character. They were made in ceramic, glass, wood, metal, art textile at a high level, both in plastic and technology. They represent art value and serve a good example for the future graduates. The museum is not only the place of preservation of art values, but it is also an informative scientific and methodical center. The creative exhibitions of the lecturers of the Lviv Na¬tional Academy of Arts also take place in the museum. The guests' honour book, started in 1977, was dedicat¬ed to the 30th anniversary of the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Art. It was also a diploma work, which was done by S. Volskyi. There are favourable tes¬timonials of guests from many countries of the world, far and near abroad, of students of the art institutions, of pupils from the art schools, of delegations, of separate groups and citizens about the high professional level and the preservation of diploma works. For the anniversary celebration the museum was re¬decorated, installed zone illumination and suitable equipment to strengthen the emotional and aesthetical value of exhibited diploma works were installed.
